Recipe Cards with Lawn Fawn

LFrecipe1

I have this go-to cookie recipe for delicious oatmeal cranberry and white chocolate cookies that are easy to make and yummy! So when I made them as a thank-you gift for my friend Jessica last year she called me the next day and asked for the recipe. Her and her kids absolutely loved them and I’ve made them a couple of time just for them. I wanted to give her the recipe, but of course in my own creative way! I got these adorable stamp sets from Lawn Fawn which are just perfect to make recipe cards with. I used Baked with Love and Sally’s ABC’s for these.

That same week was my sister Jacqueline‘s birthday, and after fretting for a few days on what to get her, I thought: why not a recipe card as well? I gave this one a moustache from the Love you a Latte stamp set, which is also where the spoon comes from because I thought this one was cuter {so sue me}. I couldn’t give her just a tiny card though, {although I did make a kick-ass bright piñata card} so I made her entire package with all the ingredients she would need. Now she has everything to make her own cookies!

With tea, of course. This was so much fun to put together and to make! Jacqueline absolutely loved it and can’t wait to hear how the cookies turned out.

Magical Day ATC’s

unicornatc1

As promised, the second batch of ATC’s I made during our crafty day with my friend Nikki and my mom. {find the first batch here} After toying around with bright neon colours there was another technique I wanted to try. I’ve had the Docrafts Artiste Watercolour Markers for a while, but never really worked with them. I made a background with them once, but that was it. So, after finding some tutorials and awesome ideas on Pinterest, I wanted to play around with them for a bit. I had loads of fun with them!

unicornatc2

I decided to also try and colour the stamps {Avery Elle’s Be A Unicorn} with the watercolour markers, since that was also a new technique for me. {I usually use pro/flexmarkers or colouring pencils}. I loved the effect! The colours flowed beautifully into each other and it took almost no effort at all. I couldn’t decide whether I wanted a bright rainbow or a pastel rainbow unicorn, so, why not both?!

unicornatc3

The backgrounds were made by drawing a rainbow on a clear acrylic block with the watercolour markers and then spritzing it with water. When pressed to the paper the colours will become a pretty watercolour background, easy peasy! The first time {the ones with the more ‘stripy’ backgrounds} I didn’t use enough water, but I liked the effects anyway. This is how we learn, right? I cut out the tiny unicorns and added them to the ATC’s with a bit of foam tape, then added the tiny stars and the adorable sentiment. Red backgrounds for the bright unicorns and soft purple for the pastels. Love it!

They were so much fun to make and they turned out adorable. I kept the first one myself, but the rest will be traded away!

Bonus! I loved the techniques so much, that when I had to make a quick card for the double birthday of my dad and stepmom, I made this adorable pastel rainbow card. Colourful, simple and clean. They loved it!

Neon Donut ATC’s

neondonut3

It’s been a while since I made any ATC’s, but when I figured I wanted to craft more, the ATC’s seemed like the perfect way to make small projects for the sake of making them, not because I *had* to. {I also blame Lysette for bringing her folder filled with amazing ATC’s, it’s all her fault, really…} So I’ve made a bunch of them over the past few weeks, but I wanted to share these bright creations with you first!

My mom, Nikki {from the Splashing Mermaid Card!} and I had an amazingly fun craft day last week where we just brought some stuff to play around with and make something of it. I knew I wanted to make ATC’s and I knew I wanted something neon {bright colours yay!} I collected everything neon that I could find, but in the end used not a whole lot of it…

neondonut2

I made my own neon paint spray by mixing neon acrylic paint with water and a bit of mod podge. Then I just layered the four sprays I made over each other! First I dabbed them dry, but it took away too much of the paint. So I sprayed them again and dried them with the heat tool instead, which worked like a charm!

I got this amazingly cute Lawn Fawn Donut Worry stamp as a birthday present last November, but hadn’t really done anything with it except try it out once. This of course could not stand! So I stamped the donut on white paper and coloured it in with neon highlighters. After it dried {which took a while} I added white sprinkles with my posca paint pen. I stamped the text on the same paper and cut out a banner with a die I borrowed from Nikki’s stash {which is extensive… oh my!}

I also made adorable rainbow unicorn ATC’s which I will be posting later!

So these are the finished pieces! As soon as I shared the pictures with some of my friends they were all taken within minutes {hihi} I kept the first one myself, but the rest will be traded away!

So expect some more ATC’s here in the next couple of weeks. So much fun!

Pocket Letter: my favourite things

firstPL4

Time to share my newly discovered addiction; pocket letters! Pocket letters are a new way for pen pals to make something creative, write letters to each other and include little gifts. It’s so much fun! {to find out more about pocket letters, see Jannete Lane’s website}

Above is the first pocket letter I’ve ever made, for my friend Flava. We’ve not known each other that long, but we talk about anything and everything. When we were at the biggest crafts fair in the Netherlands last Octobre she said; ‘you know, it’s funny, we know so much about each other already, but I don’t even know if you drink coffee.’ So when I discovered pocket letters {through her enthousiasm} I knew I wanted to make a ‘favourite things’ pocket letter for us to get to know each other a little better. And what better way for you guys to know me a little better as well?

firstPL3

I’ve numbered the cards so I can tell you guys what my favourite things are on each ATC! Here we go!

  1. I love butterflies. The little me is made from hama beads {like perler, but European}, and it shows my favourite color: purple, and my newest challenge: hand lettering.
  2. Space!, astronomy, with my favourite constellations, Casseopeia and Lyra. Sci-fi movies and series with the Death Star from Star Wars, Serenity from Firefly, the T.A.R.D.I.S. from Doctor Who, the Stargate from the Stargate franchise, a Viper from Battlestar Gallactica and the Enterprise from Star Trek.
  3. Cupcakes are my obsession, not even eating them, just cute things with cupcakes on them. Purple and Teal/Turqouise tones, my favourite color combination. Happy buntings and bakers twine.
  4. Space again! And my favourite animals: wolves and ravens/crows.
  5. A quote by one of my favourite musicians, Jack Johnson. I adore his music and the surfer vibe that goes with it.
  6. My favourite artist is Selina Fenech, and this is one of my favourite works from her, called the Storykeeper. She has a free colouring page of it on her website, which I shrank down to ATC size and coloured with my favourite Letraset markers of course!
  7. Teal and purple again! Yay! Together with my love for all things fantasy, especially witches and fairies. I was born in autumn and it is also my favourite season, hence the hedgehog and mushrooms. The little fairies and witch and the clothesline I drew myself with a 0.05 mm fineliner
  8. I love reading. Books are my favourite thing to collect. I stamped the stack of books from my favourite Gorjuss stamp called New Heights. I then added the names of my favourite writers to the spines: Jim Butcher, Ilona Andrews, Neil Gaiman, Karen Chance and Katherine Kerr. The teacup represents my love of tea and all things British and of course another cupcake! Both hand-drawn.
  9. Last but not least: writing! I love writing here for all you guys and gals but also to write stories and essays and poetry. The typewriter is made with the Marianne Design Collectable called Eline’s Typewriter.

firstPL1

Of course I needed some pretty stationery to write the actual letter on, so I made some myself! All of the stamped images are from different Gorjuss Stamps, coloured with Derwent pencils. I then drew the thin lines with my 0.05 mm fineliner. I LOVE how it turned out! I think I’ll be making my own stationery from now on whenever I need to write something.

So there you have it! My first pocket letter and a ton of info on my favourite things! Tell me what you think and tell me something about your favourite things!
